As buildings age and performance expectations continue to rise, upgrading existing HVAC systems has become more important than ever. Higher efficiency standards, increasing airflow requirements, and evolving fire safety regulations are driving demand for retrofit solutions that deliver more without requiring a total system replacement. That's where the RadiPac M comes in.
To help engineers, OEMs, and facility managers stay informed about the latest retrofit technologies, we're excited to release the latest issue of the ebm-papst Retrofit Newsletter. Each edition will highlight practical retrofit solutions, industry trends, and product innovations designed to help extend equipment life, improve system performance, and reduce energy consumption. In the newest edition, we're featuring one of our latest retrofit solutions: the RadiPac M.
Many existing air handling units were designed for operating conditions that no longer meet today's performance expectations. Whether driven by increased ventilation demands, energy efficiency goals, or stricter fire safety requirements, upgrading the fan system is often one of the most effective ways to improve overall performance.
The RadiPac M was developed specifically for these demanding retrofit applications. It combines the proven efficiency of ebm-papst's third-generation RadiPac technology with a newly engineered aluminum impeller that delivers the strength and durability required for applications where metal impellers are mandatory.
Traditionally, selecting a metal impeller often meant sacrificing efficiency in exchange for durability. The RadiPac M changes that.
Its innovative three-dimensional aluminum impeller design minimizes airflow losses while maintaining the structural integrity required for high-performance air-handling applications. Compared to the previous generation, the new design delivers up to 4% higher static efficiency, helping reduce energy consumption while supporting improved system performance.
Available in sizes up to 800 with motor outputs up to 24 kW, the RadiPac M can move air volumes up to 50,000 m3/h, making it an ideal solution for large commercial air handling units and other demanding HVAC applications.
Beyond efficiency, the RadiPac M offers features that simplify integration and improve long-term reliability.
Its ready-to-install plug-and-play configurations help streamline retrofit projects, while configurable control interfaces, MODBUS-RTU communication, and optional Active PFC provide flexibility for a wide range of system designs.
An integrated vibration sensor continuously monitors fan operation, allowing the intelligent control electronics to detect and suppress resonances before they impact performance. This increases operational reliability, extends service life, and helps reduce maintenance requirements.
Like all ebm-papst EC motors, the RadiPac M is also free of rare earth materials while delivering the high efficiency customers expect from modern electronically commutated motor technology.
Retrofitting existing equipment is one of the smartest ways to improve HVAC performance while maximizing the value of existing assets. With its combination of robust aluminum construction, advanced aerodynamics, intelligent controls, and industry-leading EC technology, the RadiPac M helps modernize aging air handling systems for today's efficiency, airflow, and regulatory requirements.
Whether you're planning your next air handling unit upgrade or looking for practical ways to improve existing systems, the ebm-papst Retrofit Newsletter delivers the latest retrofit innovations, application insights, and product updates directly to your inbox. Subscribe today to stay informed about the latest retrofit technologies and discover how solutions like RadiPac M can help future-proof your HVAC systems.
